I am also curious who and how many actually read this blog. At the same time I know there are about 60 people on my Yahoo group now where I have found little time to do much. So, I’ve decided to share bits and pieces of my big secret project here and on my Yahoo group to see what if any response I get and find out who is reading/watching/listening to me babble on and on! You will get some bits here and others there, not the same as I know at least some of the people who read this are the same people who are in my Yahoo Group too and I do not want to be repetitive and repetition is something I personally can not stand much of!

So, I can’t give many details. I will just share photos and maybe a few other tidbits and hints over the next several weeks as I work and would love any and all feedback anyone wishes to give. Feel free to interact and respond on my Yahoo Group or just email me personally if you prefer. All I am at liberty to say about the photo below is that I took it yesterday.
Mahalo,
Bo Bergemann

Collector Photos of Addie!
<dc:subject>Blog Posts</dc:subject>

Aloha,
One of my collectors in France just sent me the cutest photos of her Addie in Shimmer with Factory Face Up! So show me your pics of Ambriel in different states and countries, of Zoe at the ends of the earth and of Sugar or Chloe or my new Addie wherever you take them. At the end of this year we will look at the photo album started for these world traveling dolls and see who got to see the most of the world. My guess is Ambriel or Sugar will win since there are more of them out there. But who knows, maybe there is one special Bo Bergemann Sugar Baby who gets to go everywhere with her owner who travels on business or something fun we’ll all discover.
Mahalo,
Bo Bergemann

PS: I will also come up with a prize for the collector who posts the most photos. And a couple other prizes for the collector who posts the most interesting photo, the best overall photo, and the funniest photo. It is about a dream within a dream within a dream. Quite intriguing and one of my 16 year old son’s favorites. He puts a burger inside a burger and calls it Burger-ception. Wears a beanie inside a cap and calls it Hat-ception. It has become a family joke to do things inside things and call them ______Ception. I am earnestly hoping they will arrive by the end of this month as promised, but still no shipment info. so I’m getting nervous! I had trouble with the samples they sent, not feeling they were truly my Addie. So I cast another prototype and sent that for them to begin again in early February. They promised to still get my bulk order to me in March. Let’s hope it’s here by early April at least! Anyway, for all those awaiting the LE’s that sold out - Addie in Pink, Lavendar Chateau Addie, and Chateau Addie ‘en Rouge - I apologize. Please know I am doing everything I can to get the dolls here so I can get them to you. But, if I had settled for their version I know none of my collector would have been happy. She has a new sandblasted surface that is even nicer than my usual resin. However with such tiny features, they sandblasted too much change to her sweet little face. So, Here is a reminder of just how sweet Addie is as my brand new LE offering “Addie in Blue” rides to the rescue of those who have yet to order theirs. She is also still available in a true basic, basic with factory face up and basic with Artist Face Up. Dolls will deliver in April-May on an as ordered basis. So most of those already ordered will ship in April and the rest to be ordered from here on will ship in May except for true basics or those with factory face ups as I will just need to ship those when they arrive to me so they should all go out in April.

I know and you can see from the picture below that Addie is doing everything she can to get to me and you. Although, these are not grandma's antique ball jointed dolls. Basically the idea came from there, but Asian artists used engineering principles and artistry along with modern materials to improve their form and function.

The highest quality BJD's are resin, have at least 14-17 joints and can stand and take many poses on their own well balanced without stands. These are also known as ABJD's when they have an Asian Anime look as the A stands for Asian. Mine qualify as BJD’s meeting the highest standards in every way. I love them for all the posing and play possibilities. Most quality resin BJD's also have head pates that remove so you can change out their eyes and wear wigs so you can change their hair too. Such that the value of the doll is both - as a hobby for those who paint and finish dolls themselves and as a fine artist's canvass.

I both sculpt my own BJD's and complete them in the case of my completed artist dolls. Basic BJD's are dolls sold without paint, eyes, wigs or clothing ready for a creative collector or another BJD artist to complete from my original sculpts.

So, you can see they are no great mystery just the best of all possible dolls for the sake of body language and artistic possibilities. At least that's my opinion and I have used every medium out there that I know of. I think porcelain compares best to resin in all ways except that it ends up so fragile and easily chipped, cracked or broken. Tiny resin fingers may break occasionally but a hand is easily replaced! My basic dolls feel smooth as silk to the touch, are beautiful works of art all in themselves and have a nice quality weight to them and are well strung. All part of the best engineering!

I hope that helped, but if you have any more questions please just ask anytime using the Contact Bo link!

Mahalo,
Bo Bergemann

Addie Tiny BJD Pre-Order with factory face up!
<dc:subject>Blog Posts</dc:subject>

Bo Bergemann Addie now Available for Pre-Order as basic with factory Face Up for a limited time at a special price.

Aloha,

Addie, my new 7 1/4" or 18cm Tiny resin BJD is available now for Pre-Order on my website at http://www.bergemanndolls.com/styled-3/index.html
She will deliver in April. We won’t go into all the reasons. But I’ve always been drawn in by hero’s and love heroines who are both lovely and fighters. So I was inspired to do my Warrior Princess version of Ambriel. At the same time, the idea of the quiet yet lovely beautiful next door is also something I admire. Someone who is just as beautiful on the inside as out. This one I’ve called Secret Crush Ambriel as I could imagine my little brother having a “not so secret crush” on her growing up next door! Not that I’m saying a Warrior Princess couldn’t be beautiful on the inside too. In fact I see her as noble and willing to fight when needed. I almost think there are two distinct sides to me that have come out in the two dolls below which I completed when asked to do a face up article for Dolls Magazine’s new “Haute Doll” issue coming out in May in the fine tradition of the original magazine by that name.

As always I love to hear what you think. So everybody listening please pray with me I don’t wake up and figure out it was all a dream! I got my first DOTY for Addie in Pink and ran up there so excited and then came off stage and was stopped for a photo only to be called back up for my Celebration of Sisterhood set “Addie Loves Maddie.” I almost tripped over Greg who was trying to congratulate me and help me down the steps and when they called my name for Ambriel Antoinette! I’m honestly not even sure which categories I won in. But I do know I shared them with some pretty amazing artists like Heidi Pluczok and Berdine Creedy to name a few whom I admire along with several others equally fabulous! I am so grateful to have been noticed and encouraged in this wonderful way. My awesome seamstress Charie Wilson for Addie in Pink & my Sister set and the incredible Magalie Dawson of MHD Designs for Ambriel Antoinnette also deserve credit and get a huge THANK YOU from me! I truly appreciate you guys!

My biggest thanks has to go out to God who I truly feel sculpts with me as I go and who loves me and leads me in everything I do everyday. Next up is my family who has encouraged me to do this even from the earliest hobby stages and sacrificed the last year and a half to allow me to follow my dream into this career! My dealers and collectors who have believed in me, some who found me literally out of the blue (creating my dolls all alone on just a tiny dot in the pacific.) Then each collector and dealer has decided to take the leap of faith to purchase some of my dolls. So many have also written to encourage and thank me at moments when I really needed it though so many often never know how much their encouragement means. Thank you all!

OK, now I’m laughing at myself because I sound like an actor or rockstar on a TV show winning an award. But for those who watch who are not aware - The DOTY Awards are the Doll of the Year awards and the same thing as the Grammy’s or Emmy’s or “I don’t know what they’re all called - ees!” for film and music industry only these are for the doll industry and therefore a VERY big deal to me! I love you all! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

PS: For any of you who consider going to Idex and don’t. You should go just for the DOTY Awards Banquet that Greg Ortiz organizes. If I ever renew my vows and have a new wedding I’m going to beg him to do it. These are THE MOST fabulous fun well done events ever. I think we must think alike because the waiters broke out in song and dance with the napkins over their arms like an impromptu musical just like I’ve always dreamed would happen somewhere someday in my life! And tonight it did!

Sorry for blah blah blogging tonight but I’m excited to share! I’ll leave you all with a photo of each doll I won a DOTY for. Dolls magazine will publish all this and then we can all find out which categories I won in since I was too excited to hear!

Addie in Pink

Addie Loves Maddie Celebration of Sisterhood Set

Ambriel Antoinnette

All set up - almost!
<dc:subject>Blog Posts</dc:subject>

Aloha from Florida,
Well today I set up for Idex. Thank you all for wishing me the best and praying for me.

I am eating a bit and about to go down to register! I took some photos of the OOAK piece I did for the raffle/auction out front which is supporting at least one cause very dear to my heart: hurting children in need.

So, in harking back to my doll makers roots beginning with babies I’m featuring my now rather rarely available Sugar Babies in this one of a kind art piece from my new Living Art Line. I mad the beach and the ocean as well as accented some of my little rug rats to become “Beach Babies” by Bo Bergemann. I’ve tried to take some close up pics of all the cool little details on this one! In my usual fashion it’s very different from most of the other doll artwork out there! So if you are Idex get some raffle tickets and load up this bag the benefit some great charities (which is where all proceeds will go) and maybe take home an OOAK doll art piece!

Hope you like the few photos below. I had a wonderful blessed vacation and holidays with my precious family. I will warn the faint or easily nauseated NOT to read the next paragraph. For the daring - read on.

I have a funny story to tell which refers to how I got the name for this sister set. I was at Disneyland with my husband and kids on the vacation I just returned from eating cotton candy which is what reminded me of this memory. When I was about 9 and my sister Natalie was 10 we went to a local church carnival that had small rides. One was the tilt-a-whirl. The red round cages that spin around both horizontally and vertically. Remember those? Nan never liked rides but I loved them! So I begged her to go on the Tilt-a-whirl with me and out of sheer sweet love for me she did even though she really did not want to. Halfway through the ride I threw up and dropped the Cotton Candy I was holding. Being on the opposite sides of a Tilt-a-whirl so that I was up and she was down at the time meant my puke covered her sweater and splashed on her face and my Cotton Candy got stuck in her hair. Poor Nan! I felt terrible, in more ways then one. She wasn’t even mad at me. Yes, she is that sweet and I know how blessed I am. So I told my kids the story “again” as my eldest reminded me while my 14 year old son Jake laughed hysterically and my 11 year old daughter Bree was truly horrified. Anyway, we shared Cotton Candy that looked the same pink and tasted wonderful. But in the end the joke was on me because the last thing I ate before I began throwing up with the stomach flu at Disneyland the day before we left and had to travel home weak as a kitten and still nauseous the next day was - you guessed it - Cotton Candy. I have not had it in at least a decade and seriously wonder if there is a link?

Anyway, this set is not about puke thankfully! That would be far beyond adventurous for a doll maker I think. Rather these two are about little girl sisters sharing fun and imagination, daydreams and fun. I texted Nan and reminded her when I remembered and she was still nice about it! She and I shared much love and fun as sisters just 15 months apart growing up. I imagine these two are doing the same. They just look to me like Cotton Candy with their peaches and cream skin made from my Shimmer resin tone, their pink/peach/ivory silk ensembles and their fabulous pale blonde messy mohair curls!

I will be showing these off at Idex soon. I’ve put up many dolls from my new 2012 collection on my website already so take a peak when you find the time!
Mahalo,
Bo Bergemann

Ski Trip with Family!
<dc:subject>Blog Posts</dc:subject>

Aloha from Tahoe!
We are having such fun! Mine are all older so the wonder and anticipation is not the same. I am truly grateful for the warmth and love we all still share. My teens are loving children and real blessings in every way. And I know what a miracle that is in this day and age. But here is a little doll that embodies the sweet innocent wonder of little children this time of year. I am so glad we treasured those times with ours and look forward to the same with grandchildren likely sometime in the next decade or so as mine grow up and have families of their own. For those of you who have little ones to cherish. Enjoy these moments that fade so fast. For this like me who still have older children at home, lets try to help them find some of the wonder again. Or at least share love and laughter! And for those who have no children around and a spare moment to give, find some to share with. There are too many in your neighborhood, at an overwhelmed young mothers house near you, or even at the hospital this time of year. Reach out and share a hug and a smile along with a candy cane and brighten both your own holidays and theirs!
Mahalo,
Bo Bergemann
Chateau Addie can hardly wait! My basics are now up to their official 2012 prices and will still be very affordable for anyone compared to all the other true quality resin BJD’s on the market today. Reasonable quick shipping and NO Customs fees or long waits to receive your doll are advantages to ordering a basic BJD from me. At least most of it. The Ambriel’s keep selling so quickly I have to do another and then get her up soon. I also sold 3 of my smaller dolls within the first hour I got it up. More since then. And I have a big ad coming out soon. So, I just want to be sure everyone getting my RSS feed knows about the sale so they don’t miss out. There are actually a couple of dolls in the Available Dolls Album that are not up yet and I have to find time to do that in the evenings. I expected to last night but ended up suddenly quite sick so I went to bed at 8PM, something I never do. I’m a night owl and get so much done late nights I need to be. But not last night. However, I was waiting to announce here and the dolls are selling quickly and I don’t want my faithful collectors and those who follow my blog to miss out. So I’m telling you now and then I have to get to work on my new fun project for Idex. I wish I could share more but this one is a big secret. I can hint though. She is 18cm tall, but can grow a bit taller and is really out of the box for me! Inspiration for her came from a project I am doing with Ambriel for Idex. And, as always I will share with my list first, so join if you haven’t already.
Mahalo,
Bo Bergemann

This little lady below is Mandarin and she’s ready for a Halloween Party. I am now preoccupied with my projects for 2012 to reveal at Idex. If you stay tuned here, you may get a sneak peak or two over the coming weeks. I have some new dolls planned, already sculpted. And akin progress sculpt too. I love sculpting, so I am a happy camper at the moment! Yes, I am organized or fairly so for an artist. But I had apparently put some away and had no idea I still had these. I found complete Baby Alice, Chelsea Rose, and Leilani (as the little hula girl in brown sugar resin) as well as a couple Leilani in fair skin in PJ sets as baldy babies. So cute! I forget how cute these pudgy little monkeys are! Anyway, I thought I only had 3-4 of 2 sculpts left as blanks and was holding them back to offer just at shows as special features like my sweet little clowns for MDC. But in cleaning out. Not wanting to, no time really, but looking desperately and in hard to reach places for something else I did need now - I found this! It’s like Christmas. And on that note, I will be putting them up in my store as soon as I find time at great deals just to clear them out of here. I’m still keeping my basics to show off at shows. And I actually love the little Leilani’s to play the youngest or baby in sibling sets. But these are already completed as the versions above and I’ve been done with them for some time now so if you know someone who missed out and wants one let them know to check out my Online Store soon.
Mahalo,
Bo

Great Hair Day!
<dc:subject>Blog Posts</dc:subject>

Lovin the hair! But, by the end of next week, I know I will be and that is great news for me. For my doll collectors, the news is I really think I am actually truly DONE with doing Limited Edition Complete Artist dolls now. I did them following in the footsteps of some fabulous artist’s I love like Kaye Wiggs & Paulette Goodreau. But, now I think it’s time to veer off into doing my own thing. I’ve never been much good at following in paths already well worn by others anyway. Meaning from now on, I will do one off’s from each of my sculpts as complete dolls. And simply not promise even 4 or 6 of a given completed artist creadoll. Frankly, I put just as much time and energy into each complete doll whether it is one of a kind, like I intend to continue making, or a small limited edition. The problem honestly is time and creative fatigue. I sincerely feel the need to stick with my first love. My dolls are only as fabulous as my love of doll making that moment as I make each one. I’ve seen this clearly now. So, if I hope to continue loving what I do while still having time to take good care of my precious family and enjoy life, I need to complete just one truly fabulous Artist Original Doll at a time and never promise another like that one. Otherwise I find myself compromising and my joy in doll making waning. I’d much rather move on to the next doll from any one given sculpt and make her just as fabulous with a fresh idea. In the meantime finding more time to sculpt. Which is and always has been my first love as a doll maker and artist. So, I will offer Limited Edition sculpts, but only one offs of that sculpt if I can help it from now on. I’m open and interested in hearing what you all think. So let me know at bobergemann@mac.com
Mahalo,
Bo
PS: Take a look at my Current Offerings for photos of recent dolls.

Still painting!
<dc:subject>Blog Posts</dc:subject>

Aloha everyone!
